The MMEDA Ground in the Bandra-Kurla complex saw the Apsara awards being given out to the best in Bollywood for their contributions to cinema in the past year. On March 31st, Bollywood’s most renowned and successful filmmaker Yash Chopra was honored with the award for the “outstanding contribution to Indian Cinema” by the Film and Television Producers’ Guild of India (FTPGI). The biggest superstar of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan won the best actor award for his path breaking performance in the super hit ‘Chak De India’ released under the Yash Raj banner. The glamorous Kareena Kapoor for her unmatched performance in the hit movie ‘Jab We Met’ received the best actress award
The glittering presentation of the ceremony took place in northwest Mumbai. Both the creative, technical and Indian artistes from the film industry are honored by the FTPGI every year. The best movie of the year for 2007 was chosen ‘Chak De India’ and the director of the movie Shimmit Amin received the Award for the best director. Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif bagged the Best Male and Female Style Icon of the year by a Pakistani television channel, ARY Gold. The “Entertainer of the Year” was given to Akshay Kumar, and both Deepika Pudokone and Ranbir Kapoor was honored as the year’s best new faces by NDTV Imagine. Bipasa , Kareena and Ritiesh lit up the award ceremony with their enthralling performance on stage. All in all it was day to remember.
