Fantasy finale
Rohit Bal. That, in one word, would sum up the overwhelming impression visitors to the tenth edition of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week would take away with them. Gudda’s ethereal whites and inky, surreal blues were infused with a lot of drama – many designers walked the ramp for him, the white dresses of the models were fitted with balloons that released ink on them, and Rohit did a little jig and finally broke down on the ramp. It was a Bollywood potboiler, but it was also great fashion.

The rest of the day threw up a few surprises, in that some of the lesser-known designers showcased promising collections. Ashish, Viral and Vikrant’s collection was heavy on Indian wear, in light fabrics with minimum embellishments. Kangna Ranaut walked the ramp for Prriya and Chintan’s collection, whose colour palette included deep maroons, oranges and browns.
Ashish Pandey’s collection had a lot of colour – bright pinks, reds and blues in silk, organza, georgette and cotton. Swapan and Seema’s clothes were feminine, with lehengas, sarees and kurtas dominating the collection . Falguni and Shane Peacock had a lot of their signature prints, with Amrita Arora walking the ramp for them. But the collection Amrita said she loved was that of Rocky S. It was an all black collection, with a hint of ivory and burnt orange.
Raj and Neetu used muted colours and patchworks with intricate embroidery in their collection. Puja Arya showcased dresses, both mini dresses and full length ones, with a recurring leaf pattern.
